Free filet crochet pattern

Flag Triangle Left

By StitchingLab ·

This 50×50 chart finishes at roughly 13×13 inches in size-10 thread filet mesh, using 2 colors — a clean two-color project — a good first counted chart. As filet crochet the solid blocks sit on open mesh — curtain panels and table runners are the classic use. The grid, materials estimate, and written row-by-row instructions below are all free; open the chart in the editor to resize it or swap the palette to yarns you already own.

Written instructions

  • spOpen mesh
  • blBlock

Before you start

  • Open mesh (sp) = dc, ch 2, skip 2; block (bl) = 3 dc plus the shared boundary dc — a row of n cells always totals 3n + 1 dc.
  • Foundation: ch 3x(cells) + 3 if Row 1 starts with a block (turning ch-3 counts as first dc), or + 5 if it starts with a space (first dc in 8th ch from hook).
  • Turn with ch 3 (counts as dc) before a block, ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2) before a space.
