About

A small studio,
obsessed with charts.

StitchingLab is a free image-to-pattern converter and a growing community catalog of free crochet patterns. It exists for one reason: turning a photograph into a stitch chart should not require expensive software, a fast computer, or a sign-up flow. A browser is enough.

We take the craft seriously. We don’t use the word “cute.” We don’t cover the page in hearts. We built a canonical pattern notation (SLPN) so that every pattern in the catalog is portable, lossless, and indexable — like FEN for chess positions, except for crochet, cross-stitch, and knit colorwork.

The catalog is community-generated by design. Every pattern you see was made by a real maker running a photograph through the converter and choosing to share it. We do not aggregate from third-party pattern sites. We do not commission designers. The work belongs to the makers.

Want to make something? Try the converter. Want to see what other people made? Browse the catalog. Want to know how much yarn to buy? There’s a calculator.
